Ieder mens heeft een enorm potentieel. Soms is dat nog wat sluimerend en talenten zijn helaas vaak weggestopt. Wanneer het niet veilig is om jezelf te zijn, dan pas je al snel je gedrag daarop aan. Dat gedrag dat je helpt om te overleven wordt al snel voorkeursgedrag. Op een gegeven moment ontdek je dat je van "overleven" niet gelukkig wordt. Het is alleen heel lastig om grondig ingesleten voorkeursgedrag los te laten. U weet dat u dingen anders moet aanpakken, maar u weet niet hoe u dat zou moeten doen. Het vereist een flinke portie moed om dan toch in beweging te komen. Het motto van Universis: Durf in je eigen kracht te stappen!

Nelson Mandela gebruikte tijdens zijn inaugurele rede voor het presidentschap van Zuid Afrika in 1994 de prachtige boodschap van Marianne Williamson uit haar boek "A Return to Love":
"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
